The effect of Music therapy on schizophrenic's relationship and sociality improvement

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to observe the effects of music therapy on the progress of sociality improvements and relationships of rehabilitant. This observation is upon 8 analysands(5 man, 3 women), 36-63 aged rehabilitants who agreed to take part in this research in D city. In this research, schizophrenics, who are selected on the basis of diagnostic criteria called DSM-IV, partook in the music therapy for 60 minutes over 6 weeks, 2 times a week. Relationship Change Scale and Social Skills Rating System are used to examine before and after music therapy. The result of the research showed significant improvements of rehabilitant's relationships and socialities. Therefore, music therapy could be an effective treatment for emotional relaxation, stress reduction, and perception behavior change. Also, music therapy would improve the quality of life.
